While it provided a unique appearance that is much sought after today, it was not nearly as safe as modern insulated automotive wiring you see used in both OEM wiring and aftermarket wiring harnesses. If your project vehicle is from this period there was often little you could do but construct a custom wiring harness with bulk spools of cloth covered automotive wire, which is a labor intensive process that requires a lot of automotive electrical knowledge to build a safe vehicle harness. Speedway Motors now has the perfect period look solution for those wanting a braided cloth antique car wiring harness. Our 12-circuit universal mini-fuse wiring harness has been a great option for wiring up classic vehicles that only need the basics for electrical circuits, like the typical Model A hotrod, T-bucket project, and the like. Customer demand has shown that offering the same harness with a vintage braided cloth wire covering was warranted. So, we went back to the drawing board with our popular 12-circuit harness and not only added the vintage braided cloth covering to each wire circuit but tweaked the layout to make it easier to install as well! Modern Automotive Wiring with Vintage Wiring Harness Looks Just like our original 12-circuit harness, our cloth covered wiring harness begins with our snap-fit fuse box assembly that uses industry standard APM/ATM “mini” fuses to protect each circuit. Two relays are included for horn and electric cooling fan use. Simply mount the fuse box bracket where desired and snap the fuse box into place. This makes servicing fuses easy in the future. The 12-foot harness length means your typical small to medium sized vehicles will easily be able to connect the rear body wiring circuits (taillights, etc.) without having to splice any extensions. Where our original 12-circuit harness was split into four main sections, we have made installation even easier with our vintage cloth covered wiring harness version by separating the circuits even further to now numbering 10 different branches. This allows for separate left and right dash wiring, and new branches to further separate front body wiring (separate engine and lighting branches), and more to make installation as trouble free as possible for the first time wiring installer. The included instructions cover all aspects of a typical installation. Each branch is wire tagged for identification and every individual wire is labeled with a shrink wrap sleeve listing circuit name and number. The cloth wrapped automotive wire covering is added to our standard GXL fire rated wiring, providing you with a modern vintage wiring harness with the retro looks everyone is after. The cloth braided covering is a true cloth braid and not a nylon plastic braid finish for a vintage cloth covered automotive electrical wire look. We have used colors similar to the standard GM wiring colors, so if you’re familiar with GM color codes installation will be a breeze and no different than other harnesses you’ve installed. Fear not though if this is your first time, as we provide full color wiring diagrams showing each wire’s braided cloth color and tracer color with circuit use and number for you. Provides All Basic Wiring Circuits and Connects Directly to 1968-1996 GM Columns Our 12-circuit antique auto wiring harness provides a fuse protected circuit for the basics your typical T-bucket, hot rod, or classic could need in a 12-volt wiring system. From lighting and wipers, to gauges, ignition, horn, radio, and air conditioning, you’ll have the basics covered with ease and our vintage automotive wire harness with each circuit wired with the proper wiring gauge size and protected by industry standard APM/ATM “mini” fuses. Grab our mini-fuse assortment for your roadside emergency kit and never be left stranded! The included turn signal switch connector directly plugs into factory 1968-1996 GM steering columns (see our compatibility list for more details), and is compatible with many popular aftermarket tilt-columns including Speedway Motors, ididit, and Flaming River brands. Installation is Fast and Simple Once you’ve determined your fuse box mounting location the 10 divided branches of the harness are easily routed throughout your vehicle thanks to the quick identification tags on each branch. The branches are separated as follows: Gauges/Left Dash Headlight Switch Brake Switch Mid/Right Dash Ignition Switch Rear of Vehicle Engine Starter Bundle Front Lighting Bundle Turn Signal Switch Dimmer Switch No matter if your vehicle has an automatic or manual transmission, or is using a carb or EFI, our 12-circuit harness takes no time to install and can be integrated easily with aftermarket EFI engine harnesses, ignition boxes, and more. The included headlight connectors, GM alternator connector, and more help finalize your installation with most popular lighting and charging system options and you can utilize either a column or dash mounted ignition switch. If you’re planning to use our standard or heavy duty column mount turn signal switch, simply follow the color codes and circuit numbers provided in their instructions to mate up to our 12-circuit harness.

A CURT custom wiring harness also called a T-connector is a simple plug-and-play electrical device that eliminates the need for cutting splicing and soldering when installing vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Most vehicles do not come ready to tow. Unless your vehicle has a towing package it is probably not equipped with a trailer wiring connector. This is where CURTs custom wiring harnesses come into play.
